Welcome to the Devil's Dispatch

It’s always slightly awkward to write these types of introductions, isn’t it? Well there’s nothing for it, so let me start. Hi, my name is Ashley, and I’m an occultist, designer, dabbler and fellow human. Nice to meet you. Can I see your birth chart?

I occasionally have things to say. It might be, some of those things are interesting to you. Some of those things will be about my experience combining living in the American South, practicing the occult arts, and working a 9-5 job. All I can really do is write my perspective on things. I don’t claim that it’s the truth, just one way of seeing things. That’s all any of us can do.

Why the Devil though? Why not someone nice, like Ganesha, or Hermes? Well, for one, Ganesha’s Dispatch doesn’t roll of the tongue quite as well. And Hermes, well, he’s aways there in the words we speak to each other. The Devil though, the Devil is grounded. The Devil is practical. Mostly, the Devil looks you straight in the eye. I want to look you straight in the eye, but with words.

The Fool is just the Devil in another form. The need to strive towards a thing, the longing and desire of attainment of a goal, to hell with the consequences. To set off on a path, come hell or high water, is a foolish thing to do. Sometimes we fall from heaven, sometimes we come to the crossroads and must make a choice. The dog that bites your ankle also guards the path to the underworld. I am occasionally a fool, but who among us isn’t?
